Check Your Router Setup
Ensure your router is set up correctly to maximize signal strength and speed:
Power connection only
Your router should be plugged into a power outlet without connecting the Ethernet cable to a phone socket, which may interfere with performance.
Open & elevated placement
Position your router in a high, unobstructed space, like on a bench or table, to give the signal room to reach all areas of your home.
Distance from electronics
Keep your router at least 1 metre away from large electronic devices (avoid placing it behind your TV or near speakers) to prevent signal interference.
Heat and ventilation
Avoid placing your router in areas with excessive heat; an overheated device won’t function at its best.
Avoid obstacles
Thick walls or large fixtures can weaken your connection, so choose a spot with minimal physical barriers.
Outdoor line of sight
Position your router near a window or an area with a line of sight to the outdoors to enhance its performance.
Optimize Your Router Connection
Once your router is set up correctly, take a few additional steps to optimise its performance:
Close unnecessary programs
Shut down any programs or apps on your devices that may place excess demand on your broadband.
Limit connected devices
If possible, reduce the number of devices using the router simultaneously, as each device draws from the available bandwidth.
If you need to expand your network, our routers are compatible with standard WiFi boosters and range extenders, allowing you to extend coverage and enjoy a more robust connection throughout your home.
